European Parliament: “Cotton” Valley

AFP - Olivia TORLETT

In yesterday's conference on the topic of ‘Single Digital Market’, the journalists from the International Press Corps had a great chance to inquire the leaders of the parties (IMCO, CULT, FEMM) about their further vision on advancing the digital literacy and opportunity of their beloved European citizens. The press conference revolved around women, children, the LGBTG+ community and other vulnerable groups.

Regarding the conference, it is recognised that the European Parliament is facing an ongoing struggle in managing its financial resources. On one hand, the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) advocates for an independent EU that prioritizes economic growth and stability. On the other hand, the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) pushes for substantial spending to meet the digital needs of every citizen.

The IMCO believes that an economically strong and independent EU is crucial for its member states' prosperity and global competitiveness. They argue that financial resources should be allocated towards promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and the development of a robust internal market. By focusing on economic growth, the IMCO aims to create an EU that can withstand global economic challenges and reduce its dependence on external entities. Despite such an ambitious dream, the resource for the program has been unidentified. Is IMCO planning on the 2.0 BREXIT from the international digital world?

On the other hand, the CULT committee recognizes the rapid advancements in technology and its impact on society. They argue that it is the EU's responsibility to address the digital needs of every citizen, ensuring equal access to digital infrastructure, education, and skills. By investing in digital initiatives, the CULT aims to foster digital literacy, bridge the digital divide, and enhance cultural and educational experiences for all EU citizens.

While the middle ground for the both parties remains ambiguous, there is nothing we can do but praying for EU financial stability.
