WHAT HAPPENED IN ANGOLA?

TASS - by Melanie Smirnov

The problem in Angola is escalating. May it be solved before another disaster begins in Africa?

The independence movement in the Portuguese colony of Angola has long been plagued by many issues, one of which would be internal fragmentation between some nationalist groups, even though all of them share the same ultimate goal of Angola's independence. The three main Angolan revolutionary movements, the MPLA, NFLA, and UNITA, have some disagreements about how an Angola independence plan would work, but that could be solved soon.

High-ranking MPLA, NFLA, and UNITA leadership have met in Moscow at an invitation from the Soviet Union, where they will discuss a potential merger of all three movements. This would unify all the factions into a singular leader to ensure that the independence movement would operate efficiently in its fight against the Portuguese colonialists.

In other news, it has been reported that the MPLA had their attacks against the Portuguese administration. An administrative embassy in the Angolan capital, Luanda, was bombed; this resulted in the death of some diplomats. A representative of the MPLA has claimed responsibility for this attack.
