“If freedom in one place is threatened, freedom all over the world is in danger” - USSR delegate, UNGA 2023
Freedom emphasizes that at the international level, there is a need to support and protect human rights, democratic principles, and the rule of law. It may lead to societal division and conflict, setting a dangerous precedent. Otherwise, it undermines efforts to promote and protect freedom and democracy worldwide. If freedom is threatened, the consequences may extend beyond national borders. For those reasons, every country has its right to freedom. And Kenya Does.
The USSR has moved troops to 3 airports in Kenya while making a remark:
“Any offenses on the airports protected by the USSR would mean offense to the Warsaw Pact and other Socialist states, leading to war.”
By publicly defending Kenya’s independence, the USSR further proved its point, being the leading model among developing and developed countries in fighting for the independence of third-world countries.
Other nations, especially developed ones, were encouraged to follow the USSR's lead, granting independence to African nations to preserve global freedom.
