NCNC Independence: UK’s Queen Gambit?

The NCNC, led by prominent figures such as Nnamdi Azikiwe and Jaja Wachuku, advocated for independence and self-rule in Nigeria and Cameroon. The movement gained momentum as the voices of the people grew louder, demanding their right to govern their own affairs. At this historical moment, NCNC is reaching its dream.

However, recognizing the UK's current diplomatic affairs, the reason behind her granting NCNC independence is still uncertain. Some argue that mounting pressure from international organizations, such as the United Nations, influenced the UK's stance on decolonization. Others believe that economic factors and the realization that maintaining control over these territories was becoming increasingly costly played a role. Some argue that the UK's decision was a strategic move to maintain influence in the region through indirect means. Others suggest that the UK's colonial legacy made it untenable for them to continue ruling over these territories in the face of growing demands for self-governance and independence.

All in all, the UK is advised to take the initiative to clarify this decision.
