Diplomacy table turns at the event of Algerian independence

AP - by Hallie PARKER

The Kennedy Administration still considered the power of sanctions as a diplomatic tool to address grave violations against human rights and threats to international security.

However, in the current context of ongoing discussions surrounding demilitarization in Kenya, the U.S. government emphasizes that sanctions should be viewed only as the last resort, implemented only when all diplomatic solutions have been exhausted and when there is an utmost necessity to address violations of human rights or threats to international peace and stability. Thankfully, that scenario was not going to happen.

The United States once again congratulated the independence of the Algerian people on this special occasion. It is a notable remark in African history as the struggle for self-determination, spanning years of sacrifice and resilience of thousands of innocent lives has been recognized.
